I use Sage TV, which comes with a Placeshifter application that works wonderfully - not just locally within the LAN, but even anywhere over the internet. I often watch live or recorded material in hotel rooms while traveling. Sage even has a solution to get this capability for TVs without a PC - via a Hauppauge MediaMVP based solution - a small set-top box like unit that connects to the HTPC running Sage via wired or wireless networks. This system works very well for some folks, but the Wireless MVP I have never worked very well with sage. It works fine with the bundled Hauppauge WinTV application, but I think that does not allow Live TV. Overall, Sage is excellent.
